LP&L Electricity Deregulation

Just like comparing and shopping for cell phone or internet plans, retail electric competition means customers can shop for their own electric plan from multiple retail electric providers, comparing pricing, types of fuel resources, and overall contract terms. These electric providers from around the state will sell power to Lubbock citizens, there are expected to be more than 30 Retail Electric Providers (REPs). LP&L’s job maintaining the electric infrastructure that transports the electricity and safely delivers the product to customers' homes and businesses will continue, also know as Transmission & Distribution Service Provider (TDSP).

Should you not choose a new provider before the October 1st, 2023 switch date you will be put with a default provider, you can read more about this here.  The LP&L switch to a competitive retail market will occur on October 1st, 2023 however on August 1st, 2023 you will be able to select a provider or start reviewing quotes for the Oct 1st switch.  Below are two YouTube videos by LP&L explaining the changes to come.

Tritium Energy uses two distinct but equally important approaches when analyzing and trending price action in energy markets; Technical & Fundamental Analysis.

Technical Analysis in energy markets is a type of analysis that uses price and volume data to evaluate the current and future value of a commodity. This type of analysis looks for patterns in the price and volume data to identify trends and make predictions about future market movements. Technical analysis is often used to assess the current market sentiment and make decisions on when to buy, sell, or hold a certain commodity.

Fundamental Analysis in energy markets is a type of analysis that uses macroeconomic and industry-specific data to evaluate the current and future value of a commodity. This type of analysis is used to assess the financial health of the energy sector, as well as the current and future demand for a certain commodity. This type of analysis also helps investors make decisions on when to buy, sell, or hold a certain commodity.

  • Agent, Broker, Consultants (ABCs) like Tritium have agreements with Retail Electric Providers (REPs) allowing us to mark-up providers’ quotes with what are known as “MILS” or $0.001. Unlike other industries where commissions are regulated, retail energy market regulators have not chosen to do so, however we feel it best to disclose our commissions. We are open to negotiate the cost of our service for every client.
